Yay! A good day!

I went to pick Peyton up from Pat's house yesterday, and I asked my normal question as of late, "Were you a good boy today?" I was so proud when Pat said yes, that he was a very good boy today. We had no time-outs!! YAY!! So, being the proud Mommy that I was, I took my sweet boy to Target so he could get something special for being such a good boy and having no time-outs. So, I asked him what he would like to get, and he said, "Thomas shtickers." I was going to run him through the little dollar isle they have at target and let him pick something, but hey, stickers are cheap fun, so that worked with me. Unfortunately, I needed to pick up a few other things so we went walking around. By the time we left Target, we had stickers, thomas whistles, and a Thomas book. I did make him choose between the stickers and the the whistles, and he chose the whistles (but Mommy surprised him and bought the stickers too).

Blog frustration - PLEASE HELP

So this blog is really frustrating me. I can't seem to figure out how to get my pictures uploaded. Anyone have suggestions for this new blogger?

thomas, thomas, thomas...

So, we found Peyton two Thomas shirts during our last shopping outing. He has since, for the most part, decided that he wants to wear nothing but these 2 shirts, and I am afraid I have started a bad thing. See, before, we only had Thomas jammies. No big deal, he would change his clothes (mostly willingly), and we would go about our day. Now, I have a hard time even washing the two Thomas shirts he has because he always wants to wear them. Our conversation usually goes something like this:

Peyton: "I want blue Thomas"
Mommy: "Blue Thomas is dirty, we need to wash him."
Peyton: "NO WASH THOMAS!"
Mommy: "But Peyton it's dirty. We need to clean it."
Peyton" "Have food on it?"
Mommy: "Yes, it has food on it. Do you want to wear it to go night-night?"
Peyton: "Yeah"
Mommy" "ok, then when we get home, we can put it in the wash and clean it"
Peyton: "NO WASH" -
Mommy" "Yes, honey, we need to wash it. You can help me put it in the washer when we get home, and then you can wear it to go night-night. OK?"
Peyton: "OK"

Unfortunately, this is a daily conversation. I have noticed, though, that Miss Pat seems to be able to get him to wear everything that I can't (i.e....new shoes, clothes, whatever!), so all non-thomas clothing goes to Miss Pat's house so we actually get some use out of them. I even got him some bright orange Croc's for vacation so he would have something to wear on the beach. I wasn't sure he would wear them since he hasn't seemed to want to put on most new shoes we buy him. So, the clerk working the booth says they have those little "button" things that you can put in the holes of the shoes. So, I asked on a whim if he has any thomas the Train ones, and low and behold, he DID!! I was excited, because I thought for sure he would wear shoes with Thomas on them. Of course, once Peyton saw the buttons, he wanted to hold them. When he went down for his nap, I stuck the button in the shoes thinking I was set. Well, when he woke up, he wanted the buttons out of the shoes so he could hold them. So, the buttons still have not made it into the shoes, but luckily, after a little coaxing with a coco (lollipop), he is at least wearing his new shoes. Hey, you take what you can get.

Bad report

So I picked up Peyton from Miss Pat's (childcare) yesterday. When I got there, Peyton was crying and very fussy. So, you know, I am thinking this is going to be just a wonderful evening. Then Pat tells me that Peyton has been like this all day. Then said that he had kicked and hit this other little boy, Evan. Apparently he also threw something at him. She said he was completely unprovoked, that Peyton just stood there and chunked a little toy backpack at him. Who knows! This is the part about being a working Mommy that really bothers me. I don't like the idea that I am not there to correct him on the spot when he does things like this. I don't know what made him do it, although I can say that Peyton bit into the inside of my thigh (you know, right where all the fat is...yeah, it hurt. He drew blood)the other day while we were playing and "tickling" his friend that was over. So, I somewhat think he is just trying to play and doesn't know quite how to engage the target that he wants as his playmate. I think some of this also stems from the fact that he is not around very many kids his age on a daily basis. In an case, it is not acceptable. So, we threatened him with his Thomas movies that he usually watches at home. If we got another bad report like that, then no Thomas. Today I called at lunch to check on him, and she said he is doing great! Never underestimate the power of Thomas....

Stinky?

So I just finished my workout involving jogging, walking, lunging, and "tires" outside in this ridiculous heat. So I come in the house and sit on the couch. Not a few minutes later Peyton says, "Stinky," and I said "yes, Mommy's stinky." So I guess that prompted him to "check" Mommy to see if I was stinky. He looked behind me saying, "I check, I check," lifted my shirt and says, "Nope, not stinky." Gotta love kids.

playtime with friends

Sunday we had a play date with old friends, Mike, Lisa & Jasmyn, and also new friends, Stephanie, Jeff & Bryce.  I told Peyton that Bryce was into Thomas the Train also, so we were going to share our trains with him when we played.  He very quickly said, “NO BRYCE!”  I think the child needs more play dates to better learn the sharing aspect of play.

We had a lot of fun though.  The kids played in the kiddiePicture 064 pool and on the Buzz Lightyear slip n’ slide.  Mike had to “throw” each of them on the slide since none of the three kiddos were grasping the concept to run and fall on yourPicture 073 belly to slide.  They loved it!!   Unfortunately, we had been at the Mall just before coming to their house, and Peyton drank a little too much of a cherry icee.  Apparently that doesn’t mix well with sliding around on your tummy (Ewe).  I must say that I was happy to see that Peyton actually put his swim trunks on since lately we can’t seem to put anything article of clothing on him that doesn’t have remnants of Thomas on them.

So after all the fun, we all ate fajitas and had brownies (with sprinkles of course) and ice cream.  Peyton and Mommy made the brownies……they were yummy!! Picture 059
