Potty Training - Poopoo edition

There are many milestones in a child's life that make a parent proud. Their first coo, first word, first steps....ahhh yes, they are all wonderful moments. Today we had (drum-roll please) the first poop! Let me tell you, Mommy was just as excited about this milestone crossing as any of the rest. We have been working on potty training recently and Peyton has done pretty well for the most part. He almost has enough smiley face stickers to earn that bubble mower. GO PEYT! So, we got home from a BBQ cook-off my Company was participating in. Peyton played and was dirty so we went upstairs to get a bath. He got in, then said he needed to pee pee. Ok, so I just told him to pee in the tub (sue me!). But my son didn't want to pee in the tub, he wanted to go pee in the potty. So, what's a Mom in the middle of potty training to do? I put him on the potty and not 5 seconds later we had pee pee. Mommy was so excited he actually TOLD me he needed to go, and then actually went. YAY! So, imagine my surprise when he is sitting there going pee, then all of a sudden Mommy sees poop fall into that porcelain bowl of yellow water. I was so elated!!! I have always heard how much more difficult it is to get kids to poop than to pee...so Mom's happy! Perhaps a little too happy though, because I think I kinda scared him with my squeals of joy. Either that or he just wasn't sure what had just taken place. All the sudden he starts whimpering and fake crying, saying he wanted his diaper. I think it was obviously a new experience for him, and I'm not sure he liked it at first. But then Daddy told him he could get a popsicle after his bath for going poop like a big boy. That coupled with the opportunity to put a sticker under his Annie & Clarabel column on his potty chart seemed to make him feel better. The agreement is that when he goes poop 5 times in the potty, he gets those trains. Hopefully we have many more pleasant poop experiences......oh come on, you know you want to hear all about them.....lol
